A wild escape - ditching the desk for the heat of the sauna
Wild Dook Sauna was founded by Mhairi Burnett in 2025.
Inspired by Mhairi’s passion for wild swimming and love for the outdoors, combined with her father Graham’s joinery expertise, the pair have combined their talents to bring a unique mobile sauna experience to life.
Drawing inspiration from the Scandinavian traditional sauna houses, and the vast array of existing outdoor saunas across Scotland, they took an innovative approach to repurpose a second-hand horsebox into a fully functional mobile sauna, designed to serve the rural communities across Dumfries & Galloway and beyond.
Mhairi transitioned from a career in management consulting to chase her passion of designing and operating a wild sauna experience. Her mission is to share the profound health benefits of sauna and cold water therapy and introduce more people to the joys of wild swimming and spending time in the natural environment.
Wild Dook Sauna encourages guests to embrace the tranquility of intense heat, reconnect with nature, and prioritise their wellbeing by taking time to relax, recharge, and find calm amidst the demands of daily life.

Mhairi is a qualified Sauna Master (International Bath Academy) with a passion for creating warm, welcoming spaces where people can unwind, rest and recharge. Alongside a certification in Safer Sea Swimming from H20 Training, she ensures every session is safe, supportive, and enjoyable.
Friendly, approachable, and attentive, she has a natural way of making people feel at ease - whether it’s your first sauna experience or you’re a seasoned sauna lover. She loves bringing people together, creating a relaxed atmosphere, and making sure everyone gets the most out of their time in the sauna.
Always open to new ideas and collaborations, Mhairi is excited to share the benefits of heat and cold therapy with as many people as possible.
